Berg Properties Broker/Owner Mike Berg is the cover story of the August 2026 issue of DuPage Real Producers, the publication mailed to the top 500 producing REALTORS® in DuPage County. The feature, titled "Ahead of the Game," was written by Lauren Young with photography by Styles Media.
The article traces Mike's unconventional path into real estate. After studying business and marketing at Purdue University, he began his career in TV advertising for a major Chicago firm — working with clients including Budweiser and Westin Hotels — before moving into IT sales. A serious motorcycle accident then changed everything: five weeks in the hospital, a lost job, and four years of recovery that included multiple surgeries. It was during those hospital nights, often awake at 3 a.m., that he first started studying real estate investing.
That detour became a career. After flipping his first house, Mike earned his appraiser's license and spent 14 years as a licensed Certified Appraiser — the valuation background that still defines how he prices homes for sellers across Chicago's western suburbs today. He eventually earned his broker's license, and in 2004 partnered with his cousin Scott to launch Berg Properties in Willowbrook, building an independent brokerage from the ground up that now counts more than 2,500 closed transactions.
"Being adaptable and staying ahead of the game is going to become increasingly more important as AI continues to change everything."
The feature also covers Mike's community involvement — including his support of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Lurie Children's Hospital, shaped by his own years navigating the healthcare system — and his advice to new agents on lead generation and self-reliance.
The same issue's Top 150 Standings rank Mike Berg #33 among DuPage County agents and teams for the first half of 2026, with $14.2 million in closed volume (source: MRED, LLC, January 1 – June 30, 2026).
